Opened in 2017 on Shattuck Avenue in downtown Berkeley, Cornerstone occupies a 13,000-square-foot space that owners Alex Popov and Chris Hoff spent two years converting from the former Thalassa pool hall. The venue splits into a craft beer garden with a 50-foot bar pouring 42 taps and a 500-capacity concert hall with JBL sound, stage lighting, and a VIP mezzanine. A smaller stage in the restaurant area hosts local up-and-coming acts, while the main Shattuck stage books touring reggae, funk, hip-hop, and rock acts. When shows aren't running, the main hall converts to a game room with fire pits on the large patio.
