LocalGroove ("we," "us," or "our") operates the LocalGroove website, mobile apps and related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.
LocalGroove is operated as a sole proprietorship doing business as LocalGroove. We are committed to helping music enthusiasts, bands, and venues—especially independent venues and smaller artists—connect so live music can thrive.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you create an account or use our Service, we may collect:
- Contact Information: Name, email address, phone number
- Location Information: City, neighborhood, or geographic area preferences
- Music Preferences: Genres, artists, and venues you follow or express interest in
- Saved Content: Events, venues, and artists you save or bookmark
- Contact Preferences: How and when you prefer to receive communications from us
- Festival Signups: When you sign up for festival features (e.g., Jazz Fest Concierge), we collect your email address, first name, last name, event ratings, and schedule choices
Information Collected Automatically
When you access our Service, we automatically collect:
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, search queries, times searched, and interaction patterns
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device identifiers
- Log Data: IP address, access times, referring URLs
Mobile Apps
Location (Near me). If you use "Near me" in the LocalGroove app, the app asks for permission to use your device's location. When you choose Near me, the app sends your approximate position, rounded to about one kilometer, to our servers with that request so we can find tonight's shows close to you and show their distances. We use it only to answer that request. We do not store your position, record it in our logs, or use it for anything else, and it is not sent at any other time. You can turn location access off at any time in your device's settings.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a notification token for your device, the device type (iOS or Android), the region you've chosen in the app, and which kinds of notifications you've turned on (show reminders and "New music Tuesday"). We use these only to send the notifications you've chosen, and we keep a record of what we've sent so you don't get the same one twice. Notifications are delivered through Expo's push service, Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging. Signing out of the app removes your device's token. You can turn notifications off in the app's Account screen or in your device's settings.
Calendar and maps. "Add to calendar" opens your device's own calendar screen with the show's details filled in; the app does not read your calendar or see what you save. "Directions" opens your maps app with the venue's location; the app does not share your location to do this.
Information from Third-Party Services
Our Service integrates with third-party platforms:
- YouTube API Services: We use YouTube API Services to display video content and search links. By using our Service, you are also bound by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Spotify API: We use Spotify's API to retrieve artist and music information.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Personalize your experience and recommend events, artists, and venues that match your preferences
- Send you updates about events, artists, or venues you follow (with your consent)
- Send promotional communications and newsletters (with your consent)
- Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or misuse
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (on our website, and through Google Analytics for Firebase in our apps) and PostHog to understand how people use the Service, for example which pages and screens are viewed and which features are used. Our apps do not collect your device's advertising identifier.
Session replay. On our website, PostHog also records sessions: how pages respond as you scroll, tap and click, so we can see where the Service is confusing or broken. Text you type into forms is masked and not recorded. Recordings are used only to improve the Service and are kept by PostHog under its retention settings.
You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Third-Party Services and APIs
YouTube API Services
Our Service uses YouTube API Services to display embedded videos and provide YouTube search links for artists. Your use of YouTube content through our Service is subject to:

We use Spotify's Web API to retrieve artist information, genres, and related metadata. Your use of Spotify content is subject to Spotify's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

- Understand how you use our Service
- Provide personalized content and recommendations

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some features of the Service may not function properly without cookies.
Advertising
LocalGroove displays sponsored content for festival-related venues and events. Sponsored listings are clearly marked as "Featured" and may be prioritized when sorted by the "Featured" sort order.
Our Commitment: Any sponsored or paid placement will be clearly labeled as such. We do not prioritize content based on advertising revenue. Our goal is to provide you with the best possible match for discovering live music, not to maximize advertising income.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: With third-party vendors who assist in operating our Service (e.g., hosting, analytics), subject to confidentiality obligations
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
- Protection of Rights: To protect the rights, property, or safety of LocalGroove, our users, or others
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case you will be notified of any change in ownership or use of your personal information
- Festival Partners: If you signed up through the Jazz Fest 2026 Concierge, your signup information (email, name) may be shared with our festival content partner, Offbeat, Inc., for marketing purposes. This applies only to Jazz Fest 2026 Concierge signups. Accounts created anywhere else on LocalGroove — including accounts created to use search — are never shared with festival partners.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services.
If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes, enforcing agreements).
Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
You may:
- Access and Update: Access and update your account information at any time through your account settings
- Delete: Delete your account and personal information yourself, from the Account page on our website or the Account screen in the app
- Opt Out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications using the link in any email or by contacting us
- Cookies: Adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies
You can delete your account and personal data at any time: sign in and choose "Delete account" on the Account page at localgroove.live/account or on the Account screen in the LocalGroove app. Deleting your account removes your saved shows, preferences and notification tokens. If you can't sign in, email legal@localgroove.live with "Delete" in the subject line and we'll do it for you. For other requests, contact us at legal@localgroove.live.
Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at legal@localgroove.live.
Note: Use of YouTube content through our Service is subject to Google's Terms of Service, which has its own age requirements.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
