Republic NOLA

Republic NOLA occupies an 1852 cotton warehouse at 828 S. Peters Street in the Warehouse District, the same building where The Howlin' Wolf operated from roughly 1990 to 2005. The Montgomery family originally built the structure to store goods from their plantation before shipping them out of the Port of New Orleans, and the space was revived as part of the Australian Pavilion for the 1984 World's Fair before becoming a music venue. Republic opened its doors in December 2005, just four months after Hurricane Katrina, and underwent a major renovation in 2015. The 1,000-capacity room features exposed brick walls, state-of-the-art sound and lighting, and the kind of industrial character that suits its programming of EDM, hip-hop, and touring national acts.
